Operations Manager (Conference and Events) - Newmarket and Huntingdon Racecourses | Full-Time / Permanent
Up to £33,000 + excellent benefits including healthcare, wellbeing support, 23 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, life assurance, meals on duty, and more.
We're looking for a passionate, hands-on Operations Manager with a background in hospitality to manage and assist in the smooth delivery of the Conference and Events operation at the Newmarket Racecourses. You'll also have the opportunity to support at Huntingdon Racecourse in this exciting varied role.
This is the chance to play a key role in delivering outstanding hospitality at some of the most renowned and historically significant horse racing venues in the world!

Operations Manager (Conferences and Events) - The role
- Manage the allocated causal team members to set up and break down meeting rooms and deliver live conference and events
- To review the weekly payroll and assist the management of the variable payroll to achieve financial targets set while meeting the operational needs
- Act as a central point of contact for C&E operational queries
- Attendance of all regular meetings and briefings to ensure regular communication takes place with all stakeholders
- Develop a good working relationship with the Hospitality team based at Newmarket
- Use function sheets to gather customer expectations, room set us and menus requirements
- Work with the chef team to ensure all special diets and allergens are managed on live event days
- Ensure all H&S policy and procedures are followed
- Support the People Operations team in the recruitment, selection, induction and retention practices for the C&E department
- Take the lead for C&E team welfare and engagement activities
- Generate and cost new ‘look and feel’ ideas to uplift service styles for C&E
What we're looking for
- Some experience of delivering live conferences, meetings and events
- A positive, approachable and a trouble shooter
- Strong organisation, communication and computer skills
- The ability to communicate at all levels and meet deadlines
- A self-starter; motivated by a passion for quality and great service delivery
