About the Role
Head Porter – Royal Dublin Society (RDS), Dublin | Full-Time / Permanent

We are seeking an experienced Head Porter to lead our kitchen porting team, ensuring that all back-of-house operations run smoothly and efficiently at the RDS - one of Ireland’s most prestigious event venues, hosting conferences, exhibitions, concerts, sporting events, and the world-famous Dublin Horse Show!
As Head Porter, you will manage the portering staff, oversee dishwashing and cleaning operations, and work closely with the kitchen and hospitality teams to support seamless event delivery.

Head Porter - The Role
You will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation within the kitchen and event areas.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate the stewarding team to ensure efficient and high-quality service.
- Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, utensils, floors, and back-of-house areas.
- Ensure all hygiene and health & safety standards are strictly adhered to, including food safety regulations.
- Manage the collection, disposal, and recycling of waste materials in compliance with environmental policies.
- Coordinate closely with the Executive Head Chef and Hospitality Managers to support smooth kitchen and event operations.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting any shortages or maintenance needs.
- Train new stewarding staff and monitor performance, providing feedback and support.
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in a stewarding or cleaning supervisory role, preferably in a high-volume hospitality or event environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Good organisational skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Positive, proactive attitude and a collaborative team player.
