Am I eligible to work for Compass Group within the UK?

Yes, provided you can provide proof of your eligibility to work in the UK (i.e. passport, Working Visa, or Student Visa). At Compass we are unable to sponsor applicants from outside Europe.

Important note: During 2008 and 2009 the Home Office will be introducing a new points-based system. This system will replace most of the existing work-based categories. For more information about the new system, please visit the Home Office website

Do I need to speak English to work for Compass Group?

If you are applying for a role which involves communication with the public (such as reception or ‘front of house’ catering for example), then you will need a good command of the English language. You also need a good basic understanding of English for all other roles to ensure that you are able to understand Health and Safety policies.

Do you have international vacancies on the UK site?

All vacancies within UK and Ireland are advertised on this website. If you are looking to pursue a career overseas, we recommend you visit the overseas locations section of the website.

Do you list press-advertised vacancies on this site?

How can I check on the progress of my application?

All vacancies will be managed by either the Hiring Manager or a member of the Resourcing Team. You can expect us to confirm receipt of your application. We will then give a response to your application within 5 working days.

How can I retrieve my personal login details?

If you have forgotten your password, please go the login page and click on the Forgotten your password? link and enter your username, email address or candidate ID. We will then send your password to the email address you specified upon registering.

If you have forgotten your username, click on the ‘Login using last/first names’ link and enter the required information. If you are still having problems, click the ‘All other enquiries’ link.

How do I apply for a position?

The process is simple. Just find a vacancy you would like to apply for on our website, click on the job title and at the bottom of the advert you will find an “apply now” button. If you have registered previously, you can apply using your existing CV or complete the forms with your personal details. When you have completed all the fields, click the “submit application” button.

How do I change my registered profile?

Simply log into your profile and click on the section which you would like to amend.

How do I download application forms sent as email attachments?

Double-click on the attachment and choose to either save it on your computer, or open it first and then save it.

How do I obtain a postal address for my application?

Currently we do not accept any postal applications. You should make all applications through the Compass careers website.

How do I remove my details from your system?

To delete your entire profile with us, visit the Search & Apply section of the website and log into your profile. At the bottom of the page you will find a link saying “Delete My Profile”. If you want to delete a specific job application rather than your entire profile, please call 0844 560 5248.

How do I stop receiving emails from you?

Visit the Search & Apply section of the website and log into your profile. Towards the bottom of the page, you will find a link saying “Job Alerts”. Click on this link and you will see the status of your alerts at the bottom of the page. If it says it is active, it will be followed by an option to switch your job alerts off. Click on this and you will stop receiving notifications of potentially suitable jobs.

How long do you keep my details on file?

We keep details of unsuccessful applicants for nine months (one year in Northern Ireland). After this all copies will be shredded/deleted. Copies of any documents for a successful applicant are retained for at least two years after you leave Compass (three years in Northern Ireland).

When will I hear about my application?

We aim to respond to your application within five working days, however, at times we will receive a high number of applications and the time to respond may be a little longer.

Why do I need a reference number to apply?

At times, there can be hundreds of vacancies across the company for any particular job title. Having a reference number ensures you apply for the right job, and that your application arrives with the right person.

Will I receive a confirmation of my application?

Yes. Upon submitting your application, you will receive an email confirming that we have received it.
